Our Landscape Elements team rolled up their sleeves and gathered a mountain of donations for Food Bank WA. In the spirit of Christmas, we wanted to make a difference to those in need especially at this challenging time of year.
Food Bank WA is Western Australia’s largest food relief organisation providing over 6.1 million meals a year to people in need. They support the traditionally vunerable groups like seniors, unemployed and homeless people.
However, research shows that 43% of the people Food Bank WA helps are living on a low income or pension. They are not unemployed – they simply don’t bring in enough money to make ends meet.
Foodbank WA also provides a range of healthy eating and education programs to build the capacity of children and adults to better take care of their health and wellbeing. Their School Breakfast Program is the largest in Australia and stretches from remote Kimberley schools to Esperance, feeding over 18,000 children every week. Their Food Sensations® education sessions make learning to cook and eat healthy foods fun.
